I have been a home-based educator for the past 20 years. i believe that everything about teaching and learning should be fun. I believe that every child is different and I cater for this.
I am available Monday-Friday, Flexible hours.
I am a huge advocate for children to learn social skills and practical skills, so they can gain independence to explore the world around them. We have a solid routine to our day, enabling children to feel at home, and feel safe and secure. Children can participate by predicting events such as putting bags away, washing hands and putting toys away. This allows them to learn how to act independently and have a strong sense of responsibility.
I live in the suburb of Momona, in Dunedin. I believe that children should be aware that they have a safe and warm environment to learn and thrive in. My home is in a rural setting, with views of the mountains.
We enjoy spending time outside in our fully fenced space and like to go on outings to explore our environment. I have been involved with the Momona playgroup for the last 30 years and attend a couple of times a week. We also enjoy socialising with other Tiny Nation educators and groups regularly. At home we enjoy water play, imaginative and dramatic play, playing on the bikes, with the cars, petshop toys and more!
I hold the National Certificate in Early Childhood (Level 4) and a current first aid certificate.
