I was born in Chile and moved to New Zealand when I was 5 years old. I lived in Auckland most of my life then moved to Wellington in 2021. Growing up, my parents were very involved in working with children and as I grew older, I realised that was something I wanted to do as well. I was a volunteer in Mainly Music and then studied at the Ashton Warner Nanny Academy in 2020, where I received my Level 5 Diploma in ECE and Care. I’ve worked as a full time nanny since 2021. In 2023 I got married and as of May 2024, my husband and I became first time homeowners. Home-based care is something I’ve always been interested in and we figured, why not start now.
I am available Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.
I currently have a space for over and under 2-year-olds.
It’s important for me as an educator to build positive and strong relationships with the children I care for. It’s also important that I build good trusting relationships with their whānau. I believe it’s important for a child’s growth to have some independence to further their development. We as caregivers should allow them to explore and learn things on their own as they learn about the world around them. I strongly believe that children should have some understanding of their own culture, as well as being respectful towards the different cultures and personal beliefs that may be around them. I myself am from Chile and I am a Christian. I love to learn about other cultures and religions and love to share about my own. I will respect and value cultural diversity wherever I go and help children learn to do the same. All children should feel secure and comfortable in the environment they are in and I strive to create that for them.
I am based in Trentham, Upper Hutt. I live in a fully fenced, warm and cosy home. I enjoy messy play so I have paints, playdough, gloop and arts and crafts ready to play with. I also have a range of activities such as, puzzles, books, building blocks, train tracks, musical instruments and play kitchen, to help support their growth and development.
I really enjoy going out and about when we can. Our weekly outings will include visiting the park and playgrounds, the library, Bounce and Rhyme sessions at the library, Mainly Music, beach, playdates with other educators, Tiny Nation events and playgroups.
I love to learn about other cultures so I love to incorporate different languages in our day, for example, Te Reo Māori and as I speak Spanish, I’d incorporate that too.
My Training

"Incredibly patient and attentive"
"We feel incredibly fortunate to have had Amanda as our nanny for about a year when I went back to work. From the moment she started with us, she formed a strong bond with our son, who was just 9 months old at the time. Amanda’s warm, nurturing nature and her ability to create a safe and loving environment made our son feel secure and happy. She is incredibly patient, reliable, and attentive, always going above and beyond to ensure our son’s well-being. We’ve watched him thrive under her care, and we are deeply grateful for the positive impact she has had on our family. We wholeheartedly recommend Amanda to any family in need of a caring and dedicated nanny."
