About Me

I am an experienced home-based educator and have been running my business for over 10 years. I live in Beach Haven with my partner and five school-aged children aged 17, 15, 11, 9 and 6. We also have 2 indoor cats. I ensure I provide an unhurried and calm environment with lots of positive encouragement to help the children in my care all develop in their own time. I acknowledge the importance of my role in all children's learning and development and continue to do ongoing professional development which helps me build on this.

My Availability

I am available Monday to Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm.

I have space on a Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for an under or over-2-year-old.

My Philosophy

I am passionate about offering high-quality education and care and a variety of learning experiences both in my home and out and about in the community. I believe that children thrive in a home-based environment, where they benefit from personal attention and care, with lots of one-on-one time.

I believe that children learn best through play-based learning, personal interactions and positive role modelling and encourage them to take safe risks and problem-solve. I believe strongly in building respectful, reciprocal relationships, with both children and their families so that they have a strong sense of belonging and feel secure.

I encourage each child, as a unique individual with their own strengths, abilities and understandings, and help support and scaffold their learning to extend this so they become a competent, confident learner.

My Environment

Your little one will be welcomed into our whānau and cared for in our home in Beachhaven like one of my own.

Our home is a nurturing, warm and safe environment with a fully fenced flat section, and a wide range of toys and other resources for all age groups. Outdoors we have a sandpit, water play, ropes and swings, slide, obstacle course, chalkboard, playhouse and garden which we like to tend to and grow our own vegetables. I have a selection of ride-ons that can be driven right around our home. We do arts/crafts and lots of playdough play and make use of all the community has to offer.

My Training

I hold the National Certificate in Early Childhood Education and Care (Levels 3 & 4). I also hold a certificate in Te Reo (Level 4) and have a current first aid certificate.
