### About Me
I have been a home-based educator for over 10 years. I have enjoyed being an educator with the under and over-2-year-olds who have been in my care over the years. It has been rewarding watching children grow from young infants into confident pre-schoolers. I started my journey as a secondary teacher in Sri Lanka and I have raised 2 sons who are now successful adults. I have chosen to continue being an educator, as I am passionate about working with children under 5, they bring me happiness and joy. I feel privileged to support children grow and learn from a young age.

I am available Monday-Friday, 7.30am-5.30pm.

## My Philosophy
I believe children need gentle guidance and that it’s important they feel safe and loved. I have a nurturing approach, offering reassurance and comfort and I respect family beliefs and cultural customs. I value children’s play; I love to offer a variety of activities and resources that support the wonder of learning. Encouraging partnership at play is important to me, children can work together and learn from one another. I believe that following home routines is important to build a comfortable place children can trust and explore, and support a successful transition.
## My Environment
I live in Glen Eden, Auckland.
My home is modern, warm and set up as a professional home-based learning environment. I have puzzles, books and a variety of construction resources available for children’s play choices. I also have a safe deck we use for water play and more active play. Safety is important to me, as children’s well-being is my priority. We enjoy quiet community walks, exploring nature and using the environment as teachable moments. We visit the local parks for active movement, and I attend a regular playgroup weekly. Weekly we have science exploration and it’s a joy to offer these experiences to the children in my care.
## My Training
I am NZQA Level 3 early childhood qualified. I have completed several workshops on building relationships and nurturing children’s emotional and social well-being. I have a current first aid certificate and I have experience with children who have additional medical needs.

#### "A Beautiful Bond" 
I would like to HIGHLY recommend Asha as a home educator. We have been so blessed to have Asha become part of our family's life, having our daughter in her care for over 12 months. Asha is a loving, caring and supportive person. She and (our daughter) have created a beautiful bond and we had no doubt at all that (she) was well looked after as well as stimulated and engaged during the day. (Our daughter) learnt so much and developed incredibly at her own pace with the encouragement and gentle guidance of Asha.
Asha has on many occasions gone above and beyond her call of service, continually being a dependable and flexible educator during our time with her. I don't think there was a day when Asha didn't have a smile on her face, she is one of the most positive people we have met. We will always be so grateful for all that Asha has been to our daughter and family.
