As a passionate, fully qualified ECE teacher with 10+ years’ experience, I am completely dedicated to supporting the growth and development of children. I have worked in private centres, kindergartens, London schools and volunteered in a school in South Africa. My teaching experience includes a wide range of ages, from birth to eight years. My young daughter - Chloe and I, love to explore the outdoors and we enjoy attending Playcentre together. We have recently relocated to New Plymouth and look forward to making new connections and exploring the Taranaki environment with new friends.
I am available Monday-Thursday, 8am-4.30pm.
I currently have a space Monday, Wednesday and Thursday for an over-2-year-old. Also a Wednesday for an under or over-2-year-old.
I believe play is the essence of a child’s work. Play creates opportunities for children to learn about their world and to develop essential and positive life-long skills, attitudes and dispositions. Nourishing and supportive relationships guide children’s play. Prioritising a child’s well-being and positive sense of belonging allows a child the capacity to play and to be happy. An inspiring play environment is the third teacher! I am attuned to children’s individual needs and use astute observations. I make commitments to developing authentic relationships with whānau and I’m a reflective practitioner. I am proactive towards learning and teaching Biculturalism in New Zealand and the heritage and culture of others.
I am based in Highlands Park, Taranaki. I have a warm, safe, spacious and inviting home.
At home, I practice and encourage care, respect and kindness. The variety of resources and curriculum I provide give children the opportunity to use their creativity, communication, active exploration and develop a sense of their world. I focus on incorporating the different areas of play including music and dance, books, activeness, drawing, and imaginative, messy and nature play. I have an indoor/outdoor flow with two indoor spaces and three outside places for play! There is also a grass reserve directly behind my home and a local park nearby.
I hold an Early Years Birth to Eight Years degree and I have a current first-aid certificate.
