I'm a fully qualified teacher and have taught children from birth through to intermediate age. I work closely with whānau and tamariki to support and facilitate learning through a play-based approach.
I am a mother of three grown daughters and a grandma to five grandchildren. Family is important to me.
I am available Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 5:30 pm. (Flexible).
I have space on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday for an over-2-year-old and space on a Monday and Wednesday for an under-2-year-old.
My teaching philosophy is grounded in respect and aroha. I believe strong, trusting relationships are the foundation for tamariki to thrive. Through these connections, I’m able to understand each child’s unique needs and create tailored learning environments. I work alongside whānau to support their aspirations for the children.
I believe play is the way children make sense of their world and learn about themselves, and Tamariki voices are valuable in guiding my teaching approach.
My home is located in Strandon and handy to town and the Northern motorway. I have worked for over 25 years teaching in early childhood education (kindergartens and centres) as an infant teacher, teacher and head teacher.
I have a safe and stimulating home environment with a variety of resources available for tamariki, from art to open-ended resources. We enjoy baking, reading, dancing and singing, bush walks and exploring the natural world around us. We are also able to harvest homegrown fruit and veggies.
I hold a Bachelor of Education (Teaching) Primary, a Graduate Diploma of Teaching (ECE), and a First Aid certificate. I have also completed the Incredible Years programme, Incredible Beginnings/Autism Programme and Child Protection.
