Growing up in a house where my mum worked as a home-based educator was one of my fondest memories as a child. Growing up with a range of different families, with different stories and different backgrounds, helped me to see and understand people and their needs better. I still remain very close friends with many of the families. I love home-based education because the families you care for become part of your family.
I am available Monday-Friday, 7am-2.30pm (later negotiable).
I currently have a space on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, for an under or over-2-year-old.
I believe children are all individuals and that they all learn differently. I like to act on the interests that they are showing, at their current age and stage no matter the level, and extend those interests so that learning can always be fun.
I believe a fun, nurturing and supportive environment is the perfect way to learn.
I am based in Mosgiel, Dunedin.
I have an incredible outdoor play space for children of all ages. This includes areas for messy play, water play and sensory play. We also have arts and crafts, baking and cooking, and indoor imaginative play.
I believe that excursions outside our space, in our local community, are important and beneficial to children’s learning and a home-based programme. Children get to see and be part of the local community, with trips to the library, park, playgroups and schools. With excursions, children have an understanding and appreciation of their environment.
I have a current First-Aid Certificate.
