I have been working in the ECE sector for 20 years. I always knew that I wanted to teach young children, but I first discovered home-based education when I was looking for care for my own daughter. I was looking for care with a strong attachment and consistency, where I could choose the educator myself. On reflection it was something I wanted to offer to others and I've never looked back!
I am available Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm (negotiable).
I believe it's important to really get to know each child in my care and form a trusting relationship with them and their family.
I love to see the children learning through play (their most important work). And I love to see them laughing and interacting. I take pride in providing play opportunities to help extend their interests and skills.
I always listen to each family and incorporate their feedback and insights into my programme. Each child is unique and has different needs, I strive to meet these.
I live in Greenmeadows, in Napier.
I offer an environment that is rich in books, blocks, building resources, puzzles and heuristic play. I am in the process of reducing our plastic toys. Children benefit from sensory play, they enjoy playdough and water play. They love getting outside with the water trough, tipping and pouring. I have a range of dress-ups and we also enjoy making our own music and dancing. We enjoy climbing the cube outside, making huts with blankets and making obstacle courses. We are keen on crafts and painting too.
I hold the National Certificate in Early Childhood Education and Care (Level 3). I also have a current first aid certificate for child first aid. I have also completed additional, professional development courses, including Nathan Wallis workshops and by the Brainwave Trust. I keep my knowledge of child protection current.
