I have been a Home-based Educator for 7 years. I love my role and plan to continue for many more years. I am also a Mum, Foster Carer, and Scout Leader. I am very active in our local community and I love to attend events with a child focus. My home has a friendly, family feel, it is always welcoming and is somewhere families can feel a part of our ‘team’.
I am available Monday-Friday (negotiable hours).
I have space for an over-2-year-old Monday-Thursday.
I believe in child-led learning. Children initiate ideas in areas of personal interest and I support them through time and resources, to take their chosen path in play and learning.
Outside physical play is very important, children need to be able to climb, swing, jump, and run. When children are indoors, I offer a variety of toys and activities for them to explore.
I live in Tisbury, Invercargill in Southland.
My home has a great indoor/outdoor flow, with a large outdoor garden area that has room to run. We have swings, climbing frames, ride-on toys, and areas for activities such as water play.
Indoors I offer art and craft activities and a variety of toys in the lounge area which includes construction play, role play, and more.
I like to get out in the community, we enjoy trips and excursions to playgroups, music groups, play pods, and more. If a local event is advertised and it is age appropriate – we explore it! We like to revisit these events by continuing art projects about them at home.
I hold the National Certificate in Early Childhood (Level 4) and a current first-aid certificate. I have carried out a variety of professional development courses and I am a trained Scout Kaiarahi for the local scout group.
