About Me

I have been a home-based educator for 27 years. I began this journey when my own children were young, and while my youngest was at kindergarten, I realised I could provide other children with the same love, care, and education while working from home.

I live in a spacious five-bedroom home with one of my sons, Haiden, along with our two loving dogs and a cat. Over the years, I've had the pleasure of caring for many families, often looking after multiple siblings. To this day, I remain close friends with many of the families and children who were once in my care.

After nearly three decades, I still have a deep passion for nurturing young minds.

My Philosophy

I believe that every child deserves love, care, encouragement, support, and respect in order to grow into confident and capable members of their community. Building reciprocal relationships with Whānau and everyone involved in the children’s care is essential to planning the best outcomes for their development.

I find great joy in recognising each child’s individuality and unique personality. I am committed to listening, observing, and discovering their strengths and interests so that they can achieve their goals.

My Environment

I believe in providing free play within structured guidelines, offering a wide variety of resources to support the children’s learning and development.

The learning environment includes a safe indoor-outdoor flow that encourages exploration. I have many resources available to spark the children’s interests, such as blocks, art materials, books, dress-ups, dolls, and cars, to name a few.

We also regularly explore the natural environment, taking walks along a track near my home where the children can collect items for their art projects. We also make frequent excursions to playgroups, parks, and even the shops, further expanding the children’s learning experiences.

My Training

I hold a Level 4 Certificate in Early Childhood Care and Education (2020) and have completed various courses over the years, including child protection, supporting social and emotional competence, and loose parts play. I also maintain a current First Aid Certificate for young children.
