My name is Layla, and 2025 marks two decades of my Early Childhood Education (ECE) journey. My passion for working with children started with my teaching experience in my home country and has only grown during my 20+ years living in New Zealand.
While I have devoted much of my life to teaching and caring for children, they have taught me just as much in return. This shared growth has inspired my work philosophy.
I am available Monday-Friday, 7.30am-4.30pm but am flexible.
Skill Building and Learning Opportunities: The first five years of life are crucial for a child’s development. My care supports this by offering a safe and nurturing space for children to learn and grow.
Through activities like finger painting, playing in sand or water, tidying up, and many other things, I help children develop motor skills, engage their senses, and build confidence while exploring their interests.
Individuality and Family: Every child is unique, and I tailor my care to their individual needs while respecting factors like culture and family tradition/values. Learning about family expectations allows me to create positive experiences that align with each child’s upbringing.
I aim to honour and reflect the values of each family, ensuring children feel supported both emotionally and developmentally at home and in my care.
Safety and Building a Supportive Environment: A secure and clean environment is essential for children to thrive. I prioritise creating a space where children feel free to express themselves, ask questions, and be their true selves.
Building trust is key. I spend time bonding with each child through activities like talking and listening, laughing and singing and dancing and playing.
Education and Routine: Daily routines and structured activities provide stability while encouraging physical, emotional, and intellectual growth. I focus on building confidence, teamwork, and problem-solving skills to prepare children for future challenges.
Exploration and Real-World Engagement: Exploring new places, meeting people, and interacting with others helps children build interpersonal skills, critical thinking, and independence. I encourage children to step outside their comfort zones, try new things, and embrace challenges with resilience and curiosity while remaining safe and protected.
I hold the National Certificate in Early Childhood (Level 4) and I have a current first-aid certificate.
