Tēnā koe, I'm Maia. I have had the pleasure of being a home-based educator for the past 6 years and find value in what I do each day. Life has blessed me with a wonderful husband and two (now school-aged) sons who are my total joy. In raising my two boys, I found a passion for supporting tamariki to feel empowered, inspired and safe. These qualities are what began and continue to underpin my practice in my home-based setting. Choosing an educator for your most precious treasure is an important decision, and I would love to help you navigate your choices and build a lasting connection for these early years.
Monday to Friday, 7am - 5:00pm
I am passionate about learning that unfolds naturally through play, curiosity, and connection with the world around us. I enjoy creating spaces and invitations that nurture wonder, whether that is through storytelling, nature experiences, creative expression, or moments of discovery. I believe that these moments are where deep learning often begins and thrives.
Relationships truly are at the heart of my practice. I value building strong, trusting connections with tamariki and their whānau, and I see learning as something we do together, on a daily basis. Each child brings their own strengths, interests, and ways of being, and I believe it is important to honour these while supporting their growth and confidence.
Above all, I hope to instil in children a love of learning, creativity, and curiosity that they can carry with them throughout their school and life.
The best way to describe the feeling that I strive to achieve is "a home away from home". I aim to provide a comfortable environment where children can learn through play, build relationships, and develop a strong sense of belonging. My home learning environment is designed to feel warm, welcoming, and calm so that tamariki feel comfortable, safe, and ready to explore.
We regularly attend gym sessions, playgroup, and music sessions where tamariki can build confidence, develop friendships, and experience learning alongside others. We also go on excursions that link to children’s interests or current learning, helping them make meaningful connections between their experiences and the world around them.

We were recommended to Maia through a home care grapevine, and without a doubt, they were spot on. Maia provides both my children with a safe, warm, loving home away from home. They both really enjoy their time there, and she just has this warm, loving way that my two kids adore. She lets them explore and become confident in themselves. Applying no pressure and just letting the kids be kids and figure out their way in life and their personality traits, while also challenging them with new explorations or creativity.
Maia has a truly beautiful way of nurturing, embracing, and welcoming every little person who walks through her door. Her home is more than just a space - it’s a place filled with love, warmth, and a deep sense of belonging.
She sees each child as the unique individual they are, and she brings out the best in them - helping them grow in confidence, communication, empathy, and self-expression. Any child who spends time with Maia flourishes. Our daughter’s happiness when we pick her up each day is evidence of the magic Maia creates.
There’s always something special happening at Maia’s house - from dance parties, creative arts and crafts to baking, playgroups, gym sessions, or thoughtful group activities. Every day is full of laughter, learning, and joy. Our daughter lights up when she talks about her day and can’t wait until she gets to go back to Maia and her little group of friends. As parents, we feel so lucky to have found someone who gives so much of herself to every child she cares for.
