I am a qualified and experienced home-based educator. I have additional experience of working with children with special needs. I love working with children and I have five grown-up children of my own.
I am available Monday-Friday, 7.15am-5pm.
I feel that it is important to let children's play evolve naturally and allow children to stretch themselves to extend their learning. When children have taken their exploration as far as they can independently, I like to provide additional opportunities for discovery, to support their development and encourage their individual interests. I also love including outdoor play and nature walks in my programme.
I live in the beautiful, rural town of Edendale, Southland. My home has an awesome backyard with raised beds, plants and strawberries for children to tend, a teepee with peas growing up it, a swing set, sand pit, bike area and room for messy play. We overlook paddocks with sheep and cows, and have five sheep of our own.
Indoors we enjoy baking, painting, arts and crafts, play dough and imaginative play with trainsets, medical kits and more.
We enjoy outings that I tailor to the age and stage of the children. We enjoy bush walks and picnics.
I hold the National Certificate in Early Childhood (Level 4) and a current first-aid certificate.
