I am a mum of two, I have worked for more than ten years as a teacher aide whilst studying and doing some travelling, including five summers at camps in the US. I worked as a primary school teacher for six years before becoming an in-home educator - spending time with my own children as well as being able to provide other children with some of the amazing experiences and relationships I was so thankful for when my daughter was in home-based care.
I have flexible availability.
I believe in following a child’s lead in everything - including play, helping them to develop their current interests and giving them plenty of opportunities to experience new things. Every child is treated with the same respect as a member of our family. My own children are very sociable and love having other people share our home.
I live in Normandale where I grew up, it's such a great area to raise children.
I love getting out and about with the children on our own adventures, as well as getting involved in the amazing programmes and playgroups run by the Tiny Nation team.
The children in my care will benefit from my own strengths and interests in music, books and gardening. Plus we enjoy exploring the indoor and outdoor spaces on our property.
I have a Bachelor of Arts qualification, majoring in Education (the psychology side) and Religious Studies. I also have a Graduate Diploma of Teaching (Primary) and a current First Aid certificate. When working with a Deaf student at school, I completed 2 years of night classes in New Zealand Sign Language. I have also done several courses in Te Reo Māori, and (because my husband is from South Africa) I’m very slowly working on my Afrikaans. I try to incorporate a range of languages in my everyday communication.
Just want to say that we are absolutely loving care with Natalie, I absolutely love the groups Tiny Nation runs and that she's always taking him out for new and different experiences. Natalie's very gentle and attentive and we struck gold with her.
Loving Tiny Nation! Thanks a bunch :)
