Children bring so much joy, humour and happiness to the world. Becoming a mum helped me realise that I wanted to spend my days working with children. I'm a qualified early childhood teacher, making the move from ECE centres to work from my home. Connecting with smaller groups of tamariki and their families appeals to me. I believe children can learn so much in smaller groups - getting the attention they deserve.
I am available Monday-Friday, 7.30am-4.30pm.
I currently have a space for an under or over-2-year-old on Monday and Tuesday.
I'm committed to ensuring tamariki develop their sense of belonging in their learning environment. I believe in helping children learn communication skills and endeavour to assist them on their own personal learning journey, of self-discovery and well-being.
I'm dedicated to keeping children safe, so they can relax, explore, learn, play and thrive. I'm trustworthy, reliable and dedicated, ready and able to assist children.
The foundation of my own teaching philosophy is to respect all tamariki and their whānau, working together as one, to meet the needs of the child. I will give all children the dedication and commitment that they all deserve, with enthusiasm, as they learn new concepts, ideas and theories.
I'm committed to developing positive and respectful relationships, as we learn to work and play alongside each other.
My home is in Hurdon, New Plymouth - within walking distance from bush walks and local playgrounds, and near farms en route to Ratapahihi Reserve.
My home has lots of natural light and air flowing from one end to the other. It has a covered deck for us to enjoy all kinds of activities in the sun and to utilise during rainy days.
It is important to me that children feel as comfortable in my home as my own family does.
I have many resources, including blocks, books, puzzles, art supplies, dolls, cars, trains and those suitable for younger tamariki. I provide resources to support individual interests, so they can be engaged and excited about learning and growing.
We take advantage of all we have to offer here in Taranaki. We really do literally have it all - so let's play! Let's discover! Let's explore! Let’s do this together!
I have a Bachelor of Teaching and Learning (Early Childhood) and the Early Childhood Education and Care NCEA Levels 1-3. I have completed the Incredible Years Parent programme and I have a current first-aid certificate.
I have no hesitation in recommending Theresa as a brilliant in-home carer. She is respectful, calm and patient. The children in her care are her first priority. She provides a genuine and loving home environment in which children are given the freedom to be themselves.
Theresa is dedicated to providing a professional and knowledgeable education basis to her teaching and has an in-depth understanding of meeting the needs of all learners.
She is able to form both professional relationships with adults and close bonds with children and their families.
I've seen Theresa in action, working with children in two centres when she was posted there over the last 3 to 4 years. She is a highly charismatic joyful lady. Always smiling and getting down to children's level, Theresa actively encourages children to expand, grow and explore through her motivated and cheerful personality. She is appropriately trained and tunes in so very well to children's frequencies. Theresa gives so much to her profession.
