My Philosophy

I believe in whānau being active and valued members of their child’s learning journey. By working in partnership with families, I aim to empower children to reach their full potential and develop a strong sense of belonging, so they feel safe, confident, and comfortable to learn and strive within my environment.

I strongly believe that children want to be involved, rather than entertained. My practice reflects this belief, with tamariki actively participating in everyday life skills, engaging with their community, and learning through meaningful, hands-on experiences—always alongside plenty of fun.

My Environment

In my home, I provide a variety of toys that are thoughtfully rotated on our toy shelf to support engagement, curiosity, and development. My home is equipped with a child-sized table and chairs, promoting independence and empowering children to take ownership of their learning and daily routines.

I offer a safe, fully fenced outdoor environment where tamariki can help with gardening, explore the outdoor bush kitchen, or burn off energy by riding bikes and enjoying ball sports. We are also located within walking distance of multiple playgrounds, open fields, and the local food forest.

Children are supported to experience real-life skills such as gardening, growing vegetables, and baking, alongside playful and creative approaches to everyday learning—like making car washes for toy bikes and cars. All experiences take place within a secure, nurturing, and fun environment.

Safe risk-taking, curiosity, and creativity are actively encouraged in my care. I believe it is important to sometimes step back and observe what children are willing to try and what they are capable of achieving independently.

The weather is not a barrier to learning here. With suitable wet-weather gear, we happily head outside in the rain to make mud pies, splash in puddles, and explore our environment. I view everything as a learning opportunity, and through an optimistic, supportive approach, children are able to freely and confidently explore and engage within my environment.

My Training

I hold a Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood Education). I also have a current first-aid certificate.
